Recycle your used computers and electronics

Save Energy

It takes less energy to make products using recycled materials. The real impact of this depends on the specifics - materials such as aluminum and copper require quite a bit of energy to produce, and using recycled materials is a more efficient process.

Save Money

Using fresh aluminum to create a product can cost twice as much as using recycled aluminum, and that's just one example. Cheaper production costs allow companies to offer products for cheaper as well.

Create Jobs

The recycling industry is a benefit to the economy. This industry creates more jobs than you think. In addition to creating an industry for skilled workers who transform recycled materials into new products new needs arise for the transportation, processing and selling of recovered materials. Each step in the supply chain requires more new workers.

Conserve Resources

Rather than just disposing of them any valuable material can be recovered and reused. Electronic waste contains precious metals, glass, plastics and other materials, and reusing them reduces the need to mine or fabricate raw materials.

Protect The Environment

We know that recycling of many different products can be a boon for the environment, because waste that would normally end up in a landfill can instead be used to their fullest potential. Recycling is especially important for ``E-waste`` (Electronic Waste) because electronic components can contain heavy metals, chemicals and other materials that can leech out when not disposed of properly. This pollution can contaminate land and drinking water if not kept under control. Remember, recycling e-waste isn't just about reusing the product, it's also about making sure electronics are properly disposed of.

Some electronic products contain mercury, a heavy metal which has been linked to a range of health problems from respiratory issues to damage to the central nervous system

Batteries contain multiple compounds potentially dangerous for human, animal and plant life

Circuit boards can contain mercury, lead, cadmium or chromium (depending on the board)
